What is a Blog Hop and what is the point?
A blog hop is a gathering of bloggers - reviewers - or - authors, and each participant gives away an item on their site by the visitor either leaving a comment or entering in a "random raffle."
What does this do for you? It's called piggy-backing.
The people who are in the hop will tell their social media about their giveaway. Their visitors will enter the raffle on their site, and then because your site is listed as others in the hops are giving away, some will visit you, too. When they visit - if they need to "like" you on FB or follow you on twitter to enter your raffle, they'll do it (if your prize is tempting). You might even get a few blog subscribers, or mailing list sign-ups, too.
Now you've got someone who has signed up for your updates - wherever they may be. When your book goes on sale, they know. When you get a new release, they find out. You could even gain a new fan.
This works best if you hop with someone who has a bigger fan base than you do, but if there are enough people in the hop, everyone will gain plenty of attention.
